안녕하세요?
제 가족을 소개합니다.
저와 제 남편은 2009년 12월 19일에 2년간의 교제 후 결혼했어요. 저희 부모님은 외국인 남자친구와 결혼을 한다고 반대를 많이 하셨지만 ‘자식 이기는 부모 없다’고 결국 허락해주셨어요. 지금은 에런을 아들처럼 사랑해 주신답니다.
2011년 1월 5일, 저희의 첫 아들이 태어났어요. 이름은 국이삭이에요. 아빠 성은 ‘스노버거’ 인데 한국에서는 보통 성이 한 글자, 길어야 두 글자라서 제 성인 ‘국’으로 했어요. 성경에 나오는 ‘Isaac’ 이 한국어로 ‘이삭’이에요. 그리고 ‘이삭’은 한국어로 ‘벼, 보리 등의 곡식에서, 꽃이 피고 꽃대의 끝에 열매가 많이 열리는 부분’을 뜻해요. ‘믿음의 사람으로 많은 이삭(열매)를 맺으라’ 는 의미가 담겨 있죠.
저는 초등학교에서 영어 선생님을 하다가 이삭이를 키우기 위해 일을 그만두고 ‘엄마 일’ 에 전념했어요. 그러다가 2013년부터 외국인 친구들에게 한국어를 가르치기 시작했어요. 지금은 영어 선생님보다 한국어 선생님으로 일하는게 더 재미있고 보람있어요.
2013년 11월 18일, 딸 제나가 태어났죠. 제나(Jenna)라는 이름의 기원에는 ‘천국(heaven)과 ‘하나님의 은혜(God’s grace)’ 라는 뜻이 있어요. 제나를 낳게 된 과정 속에서 하나님의 은혜를 많이 누렸기 때문에 이 이름을 선택했어요.
제나와 이삭이는 어린이집에 다니고 있고 저는 틈틈이 한국어를 가르치고 있어요. 올해 3월부터 전북대학교 한국어교육학과 대학원 과정을 이수하면서 외국인들에게 어떻게 한국어를 잘 가르쳐 줄 것인가 고민하면서 공부하고 있어요.
앞으로 이곳에 저와 제 가족의 소소한 삶의 모습을 전할게요.

Hello!
I will introduce my family.
My husband and I got married on December 19, 2009 after 2 years of dating. My parents were very against my marrying my foreign boyfriend, in the end 'no parent can beat their child' and they allowed it. Now, they love Aaron like a son.
On January 5, 2011, our first son was born. His name is Isaac Kuk. His father's last name is "Snowberger" but in Korea, most last names are only one letter, or at most two letters, so we gave him my last name "Kuk." The Bible name "Isaac" is "Ee-sock" in Korean. And in Korean, "ee-sock" also means "the end part of the rice, barley, or other grains where the flower blooms and the stalk bears fruit." For a person of (religious) faith, it means, "produce much fruit."
While I was working as an English teacher at an elementary school, I quit my job to raise Isaac and concentrate on my "mother's work." Then, from 2013, I started teaching Korean to foreign friends. Now, working as a Korean teacher is more fun and rewarding than working as an English teacher.
On November 18, 2011, our daughter Jenna was born. The origin of Jenna's name means "heaven" and "God's grace." I chose this name because I experienced lots of God's grace in the process of giving birth to her.
(Now) Jenna and Isaac go to a daycare center and I teach Korean from time to time. From March this year (2015), I have been studying Korean Language Education at Jeonbuk National University Graduate School and thinking hard about how best to teach Korean to foreigners.
From now on, I will tell you about me and my family's little life here.
