I’m a big fan of learning Korean idioms, expressions, and slang.
I’ve also recently been given a nice book called “How Koreans Talk: A Collection of Expressions” by Sang-Hun Choe and Christopher Torchia that has a ton of good ones in it. These two have done a great deal of research and there is a lot of good, extra information regarding the expressions in the book. So, if you want to learn more about the back-stories, origins, or particulars of any of these expressions, be sure to pick yourself up a copy. (Yes24 link)
But given the fact that these are all common expressions in Korean (well, some are old and unused, though still recognized), and given the fact that they are quite expressive in voice, I thought it would be a great idea to create visual representations of them in a kind of “Social Media” style.
Here are the first 12. I will make:
- A weekly post (Saturdays) with about 10 new expressions
- The entire collection will live on in our Facebook album(s).
- If you’re interested, follow along on Tumblr to get a new DAILY expression (to be collected weekly into a blog post here).
(This week is a bit different because it’s the first week I’m doing it.)
