Most Important Things We Went Over This Week
- ㄹ 수 있어요/없어요 vs. ㄹ 줄 알다/모르다 = can/can’t vs. know how/don’t know how
- -(으)세요 = -(으)십시요 in formal polite style
- 아/어야 되다 and 아/어야 하다 are the same in meaning, but 하다 = written more often and 되다 = spoken more often
- 아/어도 되다 and 아/어도 괜찮다 and 아/어도 좋다 all have the same meaning
- ~지 않아도 되다 = don’t have to vs. ~면 안 되다 = can’t
- ~고 싶다 = first/second person, but ~고 싶어 하다 = third person (can be used with 을/를 and 이/가)
- ~면 좋겠다 = a simple wish vs. ~았/었으면 좋겠다 = supposes the realization of an as yet unrealized state (so it is a stronger emphasis of the wish)
